The tollywood’s so called Shakira is back with a bang this time. Charmi who had a dim career last year with “Rakhee” just gaining an average response was little busy with her Malayalam and Tamil commitments. . But at this ear ending 2007 she has come up with her new film mantra which only features her as a heroine and shows her like a hero in this film.
And thrillers and Horror films are picked up well with the telugu audience occasionally. this was proved by the film titled “A Film By Arvind” which was successful film according to the box office .
And now with the movie Mantra’s success it has been proved that horror & the tolly audience are welcoming thriller films, which have some substance in them.
What sets mantra apart from earlier said film is that it maintains the suspense through out the film and sheds its story revealing about a supernatural element or a human hand that kills people in a spooky villa called Mantra Nilayam
Story
The story opens with the scenes, which reveal the amount of debts Mantra [charmi] has made and even lets us know how she is forced into these debts. She is left with no means to repay and so with no hope of repaying her debts decides to sell her Farmhouse called mantra Nilayam. However, given the mysterious deaths that take place there and its spooky locales there are no buyers for the farmhouse, barring a professor who puts a condition that mantra [charmi] should give the farmhouse for a lease and must at least make the tenants stay for 3 months. Then he is willing to purchase the farmhouse.
Then the hero Sivaji’s entry takes place. His original name is maintained the same for the character. he is a sidekick of an extortionist . Finding a lucrative deal in the farmhouse he decides to stay in the farmhouse with his friends.
But unfortunately Muniswamy [chitram srinu] dies mysteriously . Then the chase of the hero to find the killer starts. Mantra joins him to find out the cause of the mysterious deaths, which are taking place in her house, and shivaji looks out for the killer of his friend.
What happens the next is a suspense, which must be surely watched on the big screen.
Characters
Charmi must be truly credited for accepting this role, which has less scope for exposing. she with her pale girl image in the film fits out perfectly for a character . her outfits in the film are not so reveling except for a song in which she tries to mimic a dance sequence of Hollywood pop star and charming diva Shakira. Her latkaas and jatkaas make the male fans drool for something to be seen.
Sivaji, kausya, chitram srinu played their characters well and no one seem to be overacting.
The credit must truly given to the director Thulasi Ram in maintaining the path of the script in the correct tempo and also parallel to this not letting the characters lost in the film. He makes the scenes realistic. Though the music could have been more refined and the dance should have been more entertaining, but still are maintained well.
To put it short and Sweet Mantra is the film which none will regret watching after seeing the whole story. This film tries to be different which is the flavor which s presently working.
